Sway TPSea Flex roll

A first-of-its-kind flexible film

Strong, flexible, and lightweight, TPSea Flex™ is elevating the standard for compostable material by incorporating a regenerative ingredient: seaweed.

Seaweed is an abundant marine crop that supports ocean ecosystems and thrives without need for arable land, fresh water, or pesticides.

This film is certified compostable, decomposing in home and industrial compost environments after use.

FAQ

Why We Made It
Despite the existing bioplastics market, plastic alternatives made from corn, potato, sugarcane, and trees don't always fulfill their promises.
• Their inputs may be grown through resource-intensive systems of industrial agriculture.
• Their inputs may compete with global food demands.
• They may lack performance in certain applications.
• They may be "biodegradable," but unaccountable to decompose within specific timelines.

There is a pressing need for alternatives that solve these shortcomings. We view seaweed as a solution.
Use Cases
Distributors can design and convert custom compostable seaweed packaging solutions with rolls of this durable, translucent film made for scale. Final formats include:

Formulation
TPSea Flex™ is made by blending Sway’s core technology TPSea™ (a Certified 100% Biobased pellet, made entirely from seaweed and plants) with a non-renewable, Certified Home Compostable polymer. This material is majority biobased.
End of Life
TPSea Flex™ is home and industrial compostable, breaking down cleanly without microplastics or toxic residues. If compost is not available, please dispose of it in the trash. It is not recyclable.

As a material innovation company, Sway is constantly evolving our products. We certify commercial-ready materials through the global gold-standard certification, TUV Austria. Formal certification is a time- and resource-intensive process, taking approximately a year to complete. This is why you may see some bags labeled as "certification pending."

TPSea Flex™ 1.0 has achieved TUV Home & Industrial Compost certification. TPSea Flex™ 1.1 and beyond are formulated entirely from certified compostable ingredients. Please inquire with our team for the latest certification status.
