We're working for a future where composting is ubiquitous, soil health is top-of-mind, and a product's beginning and end-of-life are equally thoughtful. To turn that vision a reality, @swaythefuture has partnered with @bpicertified to support compost testing, policy, and advocacy through @1percentftp 🌱

Though not everyone has access to composting services, there's no reason to wait to choose compostables. Infrastructure grows in response to demand — more compostable products on shelves and in homes lets municipalities and policymakers know that the world is ready.

Like any other sustainable swap, choosing compostables isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making progress toward a future where soil health, regenerative materials, and circularity are not just a dream but within reach 🌈🌞🌱

Ever wondered what composting magic looks like up-close and personal? 🪄🐛✨

We spent the day with @compostdepot learning how to foster a thriving compost pile that transforms food and yard waste into nutrient-rich goodness for our gardens. Here are the basics:
🌱 Raw ingredients — Add our raw ingredients: greens and browns (a mixture of food and yard waste)
🪱 Active compost — Water and turn the pile (this adds water and oxygen necessary for decomposition). Dig in and you’ll find the toasty temperatures, crawling arthropods, and microbial action ideal for decomposition.
🌟 Finished compost — What we’re left with is finished compost, aka ‘black gold’. Add this to your garden as a soil amendment and return all that goodness to the soil!

Our material is already certified for home & industrial compost, but field testing with local composters lets us watch the magic happen in real time. Stay tuned to see the results!

Composting at home is great for the planet, provides nutrient-rich organic matter for your garden, and can even save you money on waste disposal if your collection is volume-based. There’s truly something for everyone when it comes to composting, and with a little effort and time, anyone can do it.

To the man who has spent a lifetime making sure we never take this planet for granted. Today, the extraordinary Sir David Attenborough celebrates 100 trips around the sun 🌞🎂

For over seven decades, @davidattenborough has taken us to the far edges of the Earth to introduce us to the myriad of species that call our planet home. A gifted storyteller and passionate environmental advocate, he helps us see the wonder of all organisms, from the corals of the Great Barrier Reef to the emperor penguins of Antarctica.

@planethaus was one of our very SF Climate Week events, with an immersive home installation featuring hundreds of sustainable every products — all of which are already in market! These products are doing better along our supply chains, for consumer health, and through their environmental impact.

Amid the packed speaker sessions, packaging got a spotlight. Sway CEO & Co-Founder @juliajmarsh shared how materials that are home compostable, made with better ingredients (like regeneratively farmed seaweed!), and produced via legacy plastic machinery are helping drive this future.
